Slimbridge, January 2017

Photographs from a visit to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge, on 24 January 2017. Four of us, Erica, Martin, Derek and I, visited the centre to photograph the birds.

Photos from Slimbridge

The weather on our arrival was cold, with thick fog. Fortunately, this cleared during the morning, leaving lovely low, hazy sun. Slimbridge has a fine collection of waterfowl, and attracts large numbers of visitors, both avian and human. Amongst the birds we saw were Bewick's Swans - winter visitors from the Arctic - though their numbers seemed diminished. Nonetheless, some wonderful opportunities to see and photograph the birds, at a particularly interesting time of year.
