Lincolnshire Birds, November 2021

The photographs in this gallery were taken on a trip to Lincolnshire with David Rosair of Island Ventures. The photographs are from two locations: Donna Nook (TF 4303 9973), where the pictures of seals were taken, and Gibraltar Point (TF 5559 5805) where most of the others were taken. Particular treats were the short-eared owl, and the thousands of geese. Plus, of course, the young kestrel that was just about close enough to touch!

Technical Details

All the photographs were taken on a Nikon D500 camera, with a Sigma 150-600 f/5.6-6.3 C lens. In general, the sensitivity was ISO 1000, allowing both short exposures, to avoid subject and camera movement blur, and small apertures (f/8 - f/16) to give better depth of field.

Images were processed through Adobe Lightroom Classic; processing was mainly cropping (some of the birds were a long way away, and so small in the frame) and minor corrections to exposure and shadow/highlight balance. Some images were futher processed with Topaz Gigapixel AI (for the small crops), Topaz Denoise AI, and Topaz Sharpen AI.
