Beavers near Blairgowrie, June 2021

The photographs in this gallery were taken on a Riverbank Beaver Safari with Perthshire Wildlife. We saw 5 or 6 beavers, feeding, collecting branches for food, in the river upstream of their lodge, built in the riverbank.

Technical Note

All these images were taken using a Nikon D500 camera and Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens. The combination of wide aperture and vibration reduction in the lens and good high-ISO performance in the camera were particularly important in the fading evening light.

Post Processing

Minimal processing was carried out in Adobe Lightroom - principally cropping, and some minor exposure/contrast adjustment. Most images were processed with Topaz DeNoise AI to reduce noise and adjust sharpening. Images are published from Lightroom via Turning Gate Backlight.
